Developed concepts and functioning prototypes for 8i, a company specializing in 3D volumetric video capture for AR and VR.
This version is not the concept we furthered, and intentionally omits the specific technology that was used; it does not reflect the current state of the project. The final prototype was 3d printed/assembled and used for demonstrations.
The rig is a small scale volumetric scanning setup designed for small companies and knowledgeable users. In short, it scans human holograms that can be used in AR and VR across many platforms.
I planned and modeled the packaging
and arrangement of the 2 synced cameras, a board, light strip, and multiple additional ports. These parts were aftermarket, had fixed sizes, and needed to be accessible.
Flexible Cord Management
Cords are accessible but guided through channels along a mat to help with cord management.
The mat encourages the correct placement and distance for the cameras to be arranged, as well as indicates the floors bounding box for recording.
